A full-stack system architecture for role-based B2B operations portals with tenant isolation and audit logging.
This is an internal architectural blueprint designed by Veltrio to model best-practice multi-tenant B2B portal architectures. It captures design decisions accumulated across similar system design exercises.
B2B businesses often need a centralized operations portal where internal teams and external clients can interact around a shared set of projects, milestones, documents, and communications. Off-the-shelf project management tools don't map to the specific data model, and building these systems from scratch without a clear architecture leads to tangled permission logic, poor tenant isolation, and difficult-to-maintain codebases.
This blueprint defines a multi-tenant B2B portal with a relational data model that enforces tenant isolation at the schema level. Role-based access control (RBAC) is implemented as a first-class system with a permission matrix defined per role and resource type. A milestone-based project tracking module manages the lifecycle of client engagements. All significant state changes are captured in an immutable audit log. The portal distinguishes between internal team views and client-facing views through a role-aware routing layer.

Next.js App Router serves both internal and client-facing views. Route access is gated by role middleware before rendering.
JWT-based sessions with a permission matrix that maps roles to allowed operations per resource type. Checked in the API layer before DB access.
Projects have a defined state machine. Milestones track progress with timestamps and responsible party. All transitions are logged.
PostgreSQL with tenant_id on all resource tables. An append-only audit log captures every permission-sensitive action with actor, timestamp, and before/after state.
A reusable architectural foundation for B2B operations portals that enforces tenant isolation, provides auditable permission control, and can be extended with domain-specific modules without restructuring the core.
Note: No performance metrics are listed. This is an architectural blueprint—outcomes are defined as design objectives, not measured results.
This blueprint represents the kind of system Veltrio designs and engineers. Let's scope your specific requirements.
